Jewish Experience Programme (JEP)
Children from all over Rotterdam and the surrounding areas come to our community every other week to follow our Jewish Experience Program. Here, children from the age of 4 learn all about the Jewish holidays, culture, and history in a playful way. Games, cards, and workbooks provide a relaxed learning environment, where children not only learn a lot, but also make friends for life.
Of course, there is room for parents and caregivers to enjoy a cup of coffee during the Jewish classes. For children under 4 years old there is a play corner where they can have fun (under the watchful eye of their parents/guardians).
Participation is free for members of NIG Rotterdam, but a contribution is requested for a few of the Ivrit textbooks.
An annual contribution is requested for non-members.
Reading and writing Ivrit
We use the AlefChamp program for learning to read Ivriet and material from Jeled for learning to write and translate. This way your child will acquire a lifelong skill in a relaxed way.
Holidays
For many holidays, such as Hanukkah and Purim, extra activities are organized. There is also an annual closing activity. These activities also offer parents an (extra) opportunity to make contact.
Bat and Bar Mitswa
The JEP is an important part of preparing children for their Bat and Bar Mitzvah.
